An 18-Year Commitment to Keeping Families Close
From a mother’s sewing machine in Northern Michigan to Detroit manufacturing and beyond, Action Baby Carriers was built on a simple belief: babywearing should be simple, comfortable, and built to last.
2006: The Northern Michigan Beginning
In 2006, Angela Alexander was a mother living near Alpena in Northern Michigan. Like many active parents, she loved carrying her children but found mass-market carriers of the mid-2000s frustrating: they were either overly complicated, filled with unnecessary metal parts, or made of non-breathable synthetic fabrics that trapped body heat.
Determined to create a carrier that was intuitive, lightweight, and genuinely supportive, Angela began drafting patterns at home. The result was the original Action Baby Carrier: featuring breathable cotton canvas, streamlined dual-adjust buckles, and versatile shoulder straps that could be worn straight or crossed over the back.
Expanding to Detroit & The Toddler Revolution
As word spread through grassroots babywearing groups, demand surged. The brand was later acquired by Andrea Govender and her husband, who brought the manufacturing operations to Detroit, Michigan.
While most manufacturers stopped at infancy, Action Baby Carriers pioneered the dedicated Toddler Carrier, featuring a signature 18" by 19" body panel rated for children up to 45 lbs. It quickly became an indispensable companion for families traveling through airports, hiking nature trails, and extending the bonding benefits of babywearing well into preschool years.
Our Mission Today: Independent Consumer Education
While the original boutique manufacturing has concluded, the foundational spirit of Action Baby Carriers remains stronger than ever. Today, we operate as an independent, educational babywearing resource and gear review platform.
Our mission is to help modern parents cut through corporate marketing claims. We analyze carrier ergonomics, verify independent laboratory safety compliance, and provide step-by-step guides so you can carry your baby with total peace of mind.
Editorial Independence & Standards
We never accept paid reviews or sponsored placements that compromise our recommendations. Every guide is researched with a focus on child hip ergonomics, airway protection, and parent physical comfort.
